Insatiable-y Deadly: What it’s all really about

I had a very rare weekend where I did nothing and ended up binge watching Insatiable on Netflix. I loved it, it made me think, it made me question it, it left an impression really. When I normally get obsessed with something, I get really obsessed and start researching everything and anything I can about it.

To my surprise, the Internet was filled with hate about Insatiable because it was fat shaming and it was insensitive, yada yada yada. I don’t particularly agree with that and finding out that a petition was started to take it down was a bit OTT. I’m not a fan of political correctness for the sake of political correctness & then others who jump on the bandwagon just because.. literally grinds my gears.

But anyway.. throughout the last few episodes something was jumping out at me – the key, underlying, read between the lines message that a lot of people aren’t talking about. The 7 deadly sins. Now maybe that’s just my interpretation but I just feel like Patty is the epitome of the 7 deadly sins, and top it off with the religious background, it made a lot of sense.

Then I watched this video and it’s so true. We’re brought up to believe that others exhibiting these ‘sins’ are bad and evil. But in reality, they just need help. They need reassurance, love, the feeling of inclusion, support. And it really reiterates my views lately on people. I’ve recently started giving others the benefit of the doubt and not taking things personally and that’s because we all have a story. We all have a background and you don’t know what’s going on in that person’s life.

Let me know what you think. Are we born pure evil or do our surroundings turn us into the monsters some people think we are?
